We, the People… This election was more than just a red wave; it was a historic red, white, and blue wave. In America, our diversity should be respected, not vilified. All of us want three basic things: to be respected, to be protected, and to feel hopeful.
In the wake of this election, I encourage us all to first look inward and decide to be the change we ask our party to be. Real change starts with individuals, not political parties. Second, I urge us all to seek common ground to unify our homes, our neighborhoods, and our communities. By turning our focus away from our differences, we might discover how much we actually have in common. The change we want doesn’t come from political parties, it comes from We, the People.
Lastly, I encourage us to remember and commit to practicing the Golden Rule: Love and respect your neighbor as you would like to be loved and respected. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control our response. Our reactions, today, and over the next few days, will shape others’ perceptions of us and can unify us or divide us even further.
Ultimately, our thoughts and responses will determine who the real winner can be. My vote, was and will always be cast for, We, the People.
